Free Power BI Theme Generator
Describe your brand or desired colors, get a downloadable theme.json that applies to every chart, card, and table — no manual re-coloring of each visual one at a time.
How this works
A Power BI report theme is one JSON file that sets the background, text color, and a short data-color series applied automatically across every visual on the page — instead of manually recoloring each chart, card, and table by hand. Mention your colors the way you'd describe them to a designer — "dark navy background," "a warm orange accent," "cream text" — and this builds the full theme file around them, nudging contrast automatically so light-on-light or dark-on-dark requests still stay readable.
Leave the description out and you'll get Power BI's clean default palette instead — still a real, valid theme file, just untouched.
How to apply it in Power BI Desktop
Download the file, then in Power BI Desktop: View > Themes > Browse for themes, pick the downloaded theme.json. It applies instantly to every visual on every page.
Questions
Is this free?
Yes, completely free, no account or signup needed.
Does it use AI?
No — this one's fully deterministic, the same color-matching logic DashPrompts' own dashboard generator already uses for prompt-driven palettes. No AI call, which is also why it's instant.
My colors didn't show up — why?
Mention the color near a word like "background," "accent," "palette," or "color" — e.g. "navy background" works better than just "navy." Without a clear pairing, it falls back to the default palette rather than guess.
Can I edit the theme further after downloading?
Yes — it's a plain, standard Power BI theme JSON file, editable by hand or regenerated here with a different description any time.
Want the whole dashboard built with this theme baked in?
Mention your colors right in the prompt and DashPrompts applies them automatically to a full, real dashboard — free, no Fabric or Copilot license needed.
