Free CSV to SQL Converter

Upload a .csv file, get back a ready-to-run CREATE TABLE + INSERT script — with real column types, not everything crammed into text.

How this works

Loading a CSV into a real database table needs a schema first — and a naive converter that types every column as TEXT means you can't sum a price column or filter a date range without casting it every time. This profiles each column first (the same type-detection DashPrompts' own generator uses), then writes a CREATE TABLE with real INTEGER, REAL, BOOLEAN, and TEXT columns, followed by one INSERT per row.

A worked example

A CSV with a price column of decimals and a quantity column of whole numbers comes out as price REAL and quantity INTEGER — not two identical TEXT columns you'd have to cast by hand before a single WHERE price > 10 would even work.

What happens to my file?

Nothing is kept. It's read once to build the SQL and never stored afterward.

Questions

Is this free?

Yes, completely free, no account or signup needed.

Which SQL dialect does it write?

Standard, portable syntax with double-quoted identifiers — it runs as-is in PostgreSQL and SQLite. For MySQL, swap the double quotes around table and column names for backticks.

Is there a row limit?

It generates up to 500 INSERT statements directly. For a bigger file, use the generated CREATE TABLE here and load the rest with your database's own bulk-import tool.

How are dates handled?

As plain text columns — date literal syntax varies enough between databases that a single generic script can't guess yours safely. Cast the column after loading it, the way your database expects.
