Free CSV to Excel Converter

Upload a .csv file, download a real .xlsx workbook — ready to open directly in Excel or Power BI, no import wizard.

How this works

Double-clicking a CSV often opens it in Excel looking fine, but it's still a plain text file underneath — no real column types, nothing to sort or filter as a proper table, and anyone who edits it can mangle the delimiter. This reads your CSV and writes a genuine .xlsx workbook: numeric columns land as real Excel numbers you can sum and chart immediately, not text with a little warning triangle in the corner.

A worked example

A CSV column of prices like 19.99 and 8.50 opens as text in some CSV-to-Excel paths, so =SUM() on it returns 0. Converted here, that column is a real numeric column from the moment it opens — sum it, chart it, or hand it straight to Power BI with no "convert to number" cleanup step first.

What happens to my file?

Nothing is kept. It's read once to build the workbook and never stored afterward.

Questions

Is this free?

Yes, completely free, no account or signup needed.

Does the workbook have multiple sheets?

No — a CSV has no concept of multiple sheets, so this writes everything into one sheet named "Sheet1."

Will my column headers survive?

Yes — your CSV's first row becomes the workbook's header row exactly as written.

Is there a tool that goes the other way?

Yes — the Excel to CSV Converter turns an .xlsx or .xls workbook back into a plain CSV.
